Where Pop Culture and Cocktails Collide

Drink Identifier: John Wick 3 Parabellum

A man (actor Ian McShane playing "Winston" in John WIck 3) stands in front of an ornate glass bottle of cognac sitting on a desk.

This is expensive even for rich people.

The drinks and bottles of John Wick 3 Parabellum identified.

The Liquor Brands in John Wick 3 Parabellum

The first 3 liquor brands are all found the The Doctor’s wet bar in his office as he stitches John Wick’s wounds.

The Doctor’s wet bar cart is seen in the bottom right hand corner in John Wick 3 Parabellum.

Blanton’s Bourbon

Blanton’s Bourbon, as you may remember, is John Wick’s drink of choice in John Wick Chapters 1&2. While he doesn’t indulge in John Wick 3, a bottle is seen on The Doctor’s cart. The Doctor also takes a drink of something which could be Blanton’s.

Beefeater London Dry Gin

Beefeater London Dry Gin is the classic “pine-tree tasting” gin. Popular for many years, it’s being overshadowed by new styles (and flavors) of gin from all over the world.

Sambuca Romana Anise Liqueur

Sambuca Romana Anise Liqueur is a syrupy sweet cordial that taste’s like a sweeter version of black licorice. It’s typically an after dinner drink, if you’re into that sort of thing.

Martell Cordon Bleu Cognac

Winston, the owner of the Continental Hotel, is a man of many drinks. John Wick 3 sees him breaking open some very fancy bottles of cognac as war breaks out in the assassin world.

This first fancy cognac will set you back about $200 a bottle (in 2022), but they have been making brandy for over $300, so hopefully they’ve gotten it nailed by now.

Remy Martin Louis XIII Cognac

After the Continental is destroyed, Winston busts open the grand daddy of cognacs. Aged for a lifetime (40-100 years) and boasting a loyal (wealthy) fan club, most people never get a chance to taste Remy Martin Louis XIII cognac.

Considering a bottle will knock you back *at least* a few grand, I probably wouldn’t share if I had some either.

Russian Standard (Probably)

It’s hard to make out what The Director (Anjelica Huston) has in her office. There’s never a perfectly clear shot, but it certainly looks a lot like Russian Standard. Considering John’s past with people who drink Russian Standard, it could be symbolic of The Director being someone who’s used John in the past.

Unidentified

The Director’s goons are drinking…something as John walks in.
Berrada (the guy who runs the Coin minting facility and shoots Halle Berry’s dog) also drinks something blurry.

These bottles both proved too blurry for me to make out. My best guess for the first one is some special edition bottle of Kilchoman scotch while the second appears to be some kind of brandy. If you know what these are please let me know in the comments down below.

The Doctor

The Doctor is seen taking a strong drink of *something* during the ordeal of trying to patch John up before John becomes a persona non grata. While the pouring of the drink is missed by the camera, I’d put my money on the Blanton’s Bourbon.

Winston, Owner of the Continental Hotel New York

Winston has a few new drinks in Parabellum, but he starts the movie with his classic martini with olives. We never see if it’s vodka or gin, but honestly he might switch based on his mood.

Towards the end of the film Winston starts to bust out some increasingly expensive cognacs. For more info see the “Drinks by Brand Section

The Director (Anjelica Huston)

The director has two bottles prominently displayed on the desk where she collects John’s ticket to travel out of the city. The bottles are never in focus, but they look a lot like Russian Standard bottles, perhaps a call back to the first film.
