Where Pop Culture and Cocktails Collide

Garden Mary – Green Bloody Mary

The garden mary
Green is the new red

When I think of the Bloody Marys most bars serve, I get visions of that weird canned tomato nonsense mixed with a bunch of salty black Worcestershire sauce and some celery salt. It gives me the sensation of sticking a straw in a can of over seasoned Spaghetti-Os. This Green Bloody Mary made from fresh garden vegetables is here to save you and your guests from that Boyardee nightmare.

The Garden Mary is light and refreshing, thanks to freshly pureed tomatillos and other garden vegetables. That funky soupy texture is gone, replaced with pure freshness. Instead of trying to overpower the gross flavor of old tomato juice with a variety of pungent spices, the natural flavor of the ingredients is allowed to shine.

Oh, and this is packed full of vitamins, nutrients, fiber, and everything else you would expect to benefit from when eating vegetables. Some so called “nutritionists” might argue it’s not truly healthy if you add alcohol to your vegetables, but they can fuck off.

Fancy
The color of this drink is so pretty, it really doesn’t need much to look fancy. A few cucumber slices and a cherry tomato (for color clash) would make a nice presentation.

Really Fancy
Retain a representation of each ingredient (slice of cucumber, basil leaf, a few caper berries, etc.) and decorate the rim of the glass of them. This gives your guests the ability to appreciate each ingredient individually and looks bountiful in the glass. I even used some left over purple cabbage from the Dirty Rose for an extra pop of color.

Fancy As Fuck
This is where you get to go hog wild. Add deviled eggs, cheese, shrimp, bacon, pretty much anything that can be eaten in 1 or 2 bites is fair game on the bloody. Consider making a large pitcher of mix and putting out an entire Green Bloody Mary buffet of different snacks for your friends to adorn their cocktails. All they’ll be able to say is “Damn, you fancy.”

Pop that drink into this glass, and you won’t have to worry about it getting warm!
